Baker District Qualifier (April 12-13, 2014)
The Loyola Varsity Sailing Team competed at Belmont Harbor
in the Baker Pre Qualifiers. Saturday
was a whirlwind of a day for the team.
In the morning two of our skippers were taking the ACT, but the team
managed to finish the morning 2-3. In
the afternoon the two additional skippers showed up as well as the wind was
stronger. Racing was moved to inside the
harbor for the afternoon and we finished 4-1.
Sunday was similar conditions and all the competitors raced inside the
harbor. We completed one round robin and
our team was undefeated. In the end, Loyola
placed 2nd overall earning a berth to Baker Qualifiers, being held
in Wayzata, Minnesota.

Mallory Pre Qualifier (March 29-30, 2014)
Loyola Varsity
Sailing Team competed at Columbia Yacht Club in the Mallory Pre
Qualifiers. Saturday was a perfect day
for sailing. There were strong winds
inside the harbor, making for great competition. Sunday was windless, unfortunately we were unable
to sail. On the plus side it was a
beautiful, warm spring day after a long, cold winter. The team took 3rd place overall
and earned themselves a berth in the Mallory Qualifiers. RJ Porter (Skipper), Clare Perry, Fin Elliot,
and James Kinzel placed 4th in A.
Mitchell Lee (Skipper), Liz Gambacorta, George Ernst, and Cynthia
Rodriguez placed 1st in B. It
was an excellent regatta to start the season.
