This year’s Cressy qualifiers, was a very competitive and
interesting event. The regatta consisted of both a very competitive full rig
and radial laser fleet. During both days of the event the level of competition
was constantly at its highest level, and when coupled with the high wind and
intermittent rainstorms, made for very interesting racing. With constant wind
shifts and change in windspeed, it kept sailors on their toes in order to
perform well. In the full rig division, R.J. Porter came in third place, one
place out of qualifying for nationals, and George Ernst came in ninth. After
heavy competition in the radial fleet, Fin Elliott finished tenth overall, with
Graham Post in a close eleventh. Overall the whole team put up an impressive
effort in very tough conditions, and represented Loyola well.
